    our COUNSELLING SUPPORT sessions

    Format of the sessions

All counselling sessions are facilitated in a calm and relaxed environment.  Sessions are 50 minutes in duration.  At the conclusion of each session (if agreed by both client and parent/guardian), the child, parent and counsellor will meet for a 10 minute briefing.  During this end of session briefing, strategies learnt will be discussed and modelled  in the lead up to the next counselling session.   It is important to note that the child/young person's confidentiality is respected during the 10 minute briefing session with parents/guardians.

    Method/Modalities

Based on the needs of the child, Brad will use a variety of therapeutic modalities during the counselling process that will involve talking and/or play e.g., Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy and Mindfulness etc...  Brad will also use a variety of experiential learning approaches and hands on interactive play activities to reinforce the counselling process that is fun and meaningful for the child and young person at their developmental level.   The main aim is for your child/young person to leave the counselling session with a knowledge and toolkit of strategies to facilitate positive engagement and transference to daily life.

Counselling sessions can be implemented to support challenges such as, but not limited to:

    • Understanding basic brain functioning and how this affects our daily thoughts, feelings and actions
